Saturday we went on a “Signs of Spring” tour of Whitt’s End. We found the crocuses, of course, and then the daffodils. Hundreds of them. Around the flowers, I showed Audrey the trail where the deer have been traveling all winter from the forest to the lake. Dear Audrey decided to be a deer; note the antlers, the stick, growing out of the top of her head. Take your children out and about and discover all the signs of Spring that you can find. Talk about “new life.” Talk, matter-of-factly, about what dies so that something else can live. This is a venture and a lesson worth repeating.
