ASSISTED MIGRATION OF TREES

The Eastern Hemlocks that populate the trail leading into Ash Cave, at Hocking Hills State Park, plus other plants, were assisted in their migration to Ohio from Canada by glaciers in the last ice age.

When climate change is slow, birds, squirrels and the wind provide this service.

But today, climate disruption is so sudden and severe that people have to assist the migration of many species of trees to cooler climates—if they are to be saved from extinction.
